Project Description
Information design is an extremely powerful tool that is massively responsible for the way that we perceive data. When statistics are visualized we begin to notice patterns, particularities, consistencies and inconsistencies, all of which can reveal super important information. The goal of this project was to keep track and visually depict statistics regarding my own activities throughout the summer of 2020. With COVID-19 regulations in place, this was going to be an interesting summer to look back on so I was quite excited to start keeping track.
Process
I decided to keep track of my walking, biking, muscular training and sleeping between the months of April and September. Some data like my step count and sleep was provided automatically through my phone however the rest had to be tracked in a daily notebook.I wanted the design of my information to reflect the nature of the data being tracked. Energy, movement and physical activity were all relevant themes leading me to take a fairly vibrant and dynamic approach. Many of the forms are inspired by machinery. I gave the graphs and charts mechanical-like properties almost as a metaphor for the human body that operates in its own mechanical ways.

Outcome
The final outcome was fairly successful from a design point of view, and fairly insightful from a statistical point of view. It was a good opportunity to take a look at my daily activities from a completely different perspective while creating a neat little database of my COVID-19 summer.
